Marriages

One of the projects of the Genealogical Society of Aransas County is the indexing of marriage records in the Clerk's office. We appreciate all of the GSAC members who have volunteered and devoted their time to making this project a reality.

The records begin after the formation of Aransas County in 1871. Marriage records from 1836-1871 are posted on the Refugio County website or can be found on microfilm at Texas A&M University - Kingsville, which can be obtained through inter-library loan, or through the LDS library.

The spelling shown is the same as the records to the extent it can be read; however, there can be no guarantee of accuracy due to the fading of the records and difficulty in reading names. While every effort has been made to provide correct information, it is recommended that you ALWAYS verify the source of the information provided by obtaining a certified copy of the marriage record from the County Clerk.

In some cases, the record indicates the license only with no record of the marriage, so the date given would be the date the license was issued. In that event, it is noted under the Official column. Starting with Volume 11, we note that in some cases an application may be granted and filed in this county when the parties actually married in a different county. Therefore, we have added in an additional column to reflect the actual county where the marriage occurred when known.

The record listed here are ONLY through 1954. Since this is a genealogy site, we try to avoid listing folks still alive. The presumption is someone married in 1954 at the age of 20 would now be at least 75 years. There most likely someone listed in the later years still alive, and if so, and you want your information removed please let us know.
