Early Residents of San Jose/St. Joseph Island

San Jose Island lies between the Gulf of Mexico and the rest of Aransas County. The first village was called Aransas and later Saint Joseph. Its earliest inhabitants were "seafaring men", including pirates, and privateers. The families who lived on the island included:
